Adventures for the Adrenaline Kicking Jetsetter
Holidays to Bora Bora and jaunts to Europe are a thing of the past - for the jetsetter in the know it is all about off-the-beaten track, unique experience. Not to mention for the daredevils amongst us bungee jumping has lost its luster a long time ago. So how may one get one's adrenaline kicks these days? Fret not, we have got you covered.Space. The final frontier. This is the furthest one can go.
So how do you go about booking your flight? (let's face it - this is not as simple as calling up your travel agent).
Space Adventures is the only company that currently offers opportunities for private space flights and space tourism (and the only company that has so far sent self-funded individuals to space). What's on offer? Orbital spaceflight (with the option of spacewalk if you are that way inclined), suborbital spaceflight and lunar mission (if you do decide to go for that option that will make you world's first private lunar explorer). If you are not ready to take the big leap just yet Space Adventure offers VIP launch tours or an opportunity to participate in any number of spaceflight training programs.
For the patient sorts Virgin Galactic is another option. To acquire the earliest seat available on the spaceship and to become one of the 500 people on board (making you a pioneer astronaut) all you have to do is to fill in their booking form and make a deposit payment of $200.000 (bare in mind though these seats are almost completely sold out). In case all seats are already booked the deposit payment to get on the waiting list is $20.000. For the generous souls who want to share the experience with family and friends there is the option of spaceship charter for a cool $1 million (spaceship charter can accommodate up to six people so pick your companions carefully).
Elite Submarine Rental
If it is not space, then it is the ocean. Many a billionaire have invested plenty of money to have their own personal submarine built. How these submarines look or what they contain is a mystery (since it caters to exclusive group of customers it is a notoriously secretive business). If asking Mr. Allen or Mr. Abramovich to go for a spin is not an option, subs can be chartered. Dutch company U-Boat Worx builds C-Quester (for three people) and the C-Explorer submersibles (for two people) available for rent. Both have a maximum depth of 100 meters/330ft, both are sturdy, robust and reliable and both offer stunning views of the ocean. And since passengers are exposed to just one-atmosphere there is no risk of decompression sickness. The absolutely best bit? One can enjoy their beverage of choice while exploring the ocean (always a plus in our book).
Ultimate Track Days
For supercar enthusiasts this particular experience might be the coolest holiday ever (why should Jeremy Clarkson have all the fun?) Quintessentially Escape has come up with the concept of Ultimate Track Days - an opportunity to indulge your need for speed at some of the most famous venues in United Kingdom and a couple of destinations in mainland Europe (including Nürburgring Nordschleife, Le Mans and Spa Francorchamps). Newbies need not worry - the instructor squad is always on hand to give tips and advice if you are a novice to track driving. The line-up of instructors so far has been impressive (F1 pilot Mark Webber, Perry McCarthy and Dario Franchetti are just some of the previous instructors).
